Calls in Israel for direct involvement in Syria
Qodsna, SDPN member, Alireza Arab:
Israel at the start of the crisis in Syria run an apparent policy of non-interference however it reportedly backed the ISIS terror group covertly especially after the Syrian government retained the two strategic towns of Quseir and Yebroud as wee areas across the Qalamoun mountainous region.
The gains pushed the terrorists to exit Syria for Lebanon or Aleppo at north, prompting Israel to expand support to them amid fears of an advancing Syrian force. The strategic gains actually cut on the routes of arms smuggling into Syria.
Israel still claims it follows a no-interference policy, however it never hides its so-called medical aid to the terrorists as well as its operations against Hezbollah.
Some Israeli strategists however urge for Israeli direct involvement in the Syrian war, most recently in a security conference in Herzliya.
MOssad chief, Herts Halevy has acknowledged that Israel never wishes to see the defeat of the ISIS terror group in Syria as it would lead to the exit of the powers from the region and would leave Israel alone in the face of the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran.
Israel then would confine its involvement to occasional operations.
