Al-Khalil, centerpiece of resistance in ongoing intifada

The occupied al-Khalil city (otherwise dubbed by Israel as Hebron) in the West Bank has served a key part in the ongoing anti-occupation intifada, offering the largest number of fallen activists since October 2015 who laid their lives in the struggle against the Israeli occupiers.

The occupied city currently faces a nearly full siege by Israel after its youths carried out an operation that left a prominent Zionist rabbi dead.

The population however has braved a growing number of stop and search stations and cement blocks by Israeli troopers who have pressed the life of the people.

Palestinians in the occupied al-Khalil believe they would please the occupiers once they show the least of weakness, according to Paltoday website.

Some 237 Palestinians have fallen martyrs during this round of anti-occupation intifada, most of whom having hailed from al-Khalil.

Israel has imposed collective punishments on the population, including by placing the city under a full siege, annulling work permits and refusing to deliver the bodies of the martyrs. It has however failed to damage the population’s solid resolve

It has only further inspired the youths.
