Islamic Jihad leader: May 15, dark spot in human history

Sheikh Nafez Ezzam, a senior leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement described the May 15 occupation of Palestine 60 years ago as a dark page in history, adding that the world stood by watching the homelessness of thousands of Palestinian people on that day.

in a televised speech, broadcast live by al-Alam TV network, the prominent Palestinian figure slammed Arab silence over Zionist regime's criminal acts, adding that Arabs were expected to take measures to force the occupiers out of the Palestinian homeland.

Ezzam, who was speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony in Iran to mark the 60th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine, said that the Palestinian nation would never forget or relinquish its rights.

Ezzam then touched on the deteriorating situation in Gaza, adding that the Gaza residents have trusted on God and relied on the powerful arm of their youths.

"Resistance would break the siege," he vowed.

Ezzam described the May 15 fabrication of Israel as a catastrophe which changed the region for worse and brought a nation inside the ME which was strange to its history and heritage.

Ezzam condemned the presence of superpowers in the Israeli festivals to mark the anniversary, adding that the festivals were part of an American-Zionist project to clamp down on resistance.

The ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine was held by NGOs in Iran on Thursday May 15 where plaque of resistance was handed to Abu Osama, Hamas representative in Tehran and Salah Zavavi, Palestinian ambassador to Tehran.
