Palestinian interests, common ground IRI & Palestine

Saeb Erekat, chief negotiator for the Palestine Liberation Organization described Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the largest supporters of Palestine and Palestinian interests since its victory of revolution under the leadership of late Imam Khomeini.

He told Qodsna aorrepondent in Beil Lahm that the current Iranian leader (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Kahmenei) and other authorities were backers of Palestinian nation, he said.

Erekat also stressed that Iranian authorities can play an important mediatory role among all Palestinain faction not in favor of Palestinian interests.

Pointing to his visit with IRI Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on the sideline of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Egypt, Erekat describe the meeting as positive in establishment of Palestinian national unity.
