Hanizadeh: Day of Qods helped push Palestinian issue from margin to center
An Iranian expert in Middle East affairs highlighted the role of Imam Khomeini in reviving the Palestinian issue, adding that prior to the Islamic Revolution victory, the issue was teetering on the margins.
Hassan Hanizadeh told Qodsna that the Palestinian issue was practically forgotten after the then Egyptian president Anwar Sadat traveled to Israel and signed the Camp Daviud agreement.
He called the Imam Khomeini's designation of world Qods day as a smart move which attracted the attention of Muslim nations to the main Islamic issue, the Palestinian issue.
Hanizadeh said the west tries to write off the Palestinian right of return and the Qods issue, adding that there are western plans to remove Iran from the Palestinian issue through isolation.
He also said the recent victories of the Palestinian resistance against Israel were a fruit of Islamic Revolution and that the victory helped the regional resistance to redefine its structure in the fight against the Zionist regime.
