Sanduka: Abbas would not stand vote

A member of Palestinian National Council responsible for parliamentary affairs revealed to Qodsna that Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas doesn’t intend to re-nominate for the upcoming general elections.

Abbas hadn’t resigned from current PA chief at all, but only declared that he was not set to stand in a new election, , Zuhair Rishad Sanduka said.

He took the decision because he was disappointed at the conduct of the Zionist regime and the USA, the Palestinian MP added.

By negotiation, we held several expectations about Zionist regime's comduct but after 12 years of negotiation we didn’t get anything but more land confiscation, more settlement construction, more expansion of separation wall, more aggressions and continued Gaza siege, he said.

Abbas has came to a point that the matter will not go well as he expects by negotiation, Sanduka said.

“Indeed, Israel does not want peace at all but wants to but time,” Sanduka said.

The Zionist regime declares publicly that it likes to live in peace with Arabs and Palestinians but in action it changes everything and continues expansion of settlement, the siege on Gaza, the separation of al-Quds from Palestinian territories and the desecration of holy places, Sanduka added.
