Jewish author: US people in world of illusion over Palestinian issue
A Jewish author told Qudsna Monday that Americans live in a world of illusion over the Palestinian issue, adding that US media are totally one-sided for Israel.
“On Israel-Palestine, our major media, that most people rely on for information, are totally one-sided for Israel,” Stephan Lendman wrote in an email interview Monday, adding that the US officials too are virtually totally pro-Israel.
The political author regretted that his compatriots were living in a world of illusion over the whole issue, arguing that “A key reason is we're the most over-entertained, under-informed people in the world.”
A US citizen in Chicago, Lendman believed that US President Barak Obama too was totally pro-Israel, and in the same regard, he positively quoted James Petras, Birmingham University’s professor, as calling Obama "the first Jewish president."
A prolific author on Palestinian issue, Lendman believed that the UN was not an effective body for resolution of the Palestinian issue. “The UN is an imperial tool, America pretty much in charge,” he wrote, adding that only America has used veto power “repeatedly and wickedly - so often for Israel.”
Lendman believed that Hamas has struck a performance as it could endure years of embargo and siege as well as a harsh offensive in 2008 which led to the martyrdoms of over 1400 Paleestinians, mostly civilians.
The author underlined the significant role of Islamic Republic in advancing the Palestinian issue. “There are so few regional counterweights to US-Israeli imperialism so what's there is important, especially with a little help from China and Russia,” he wrote.
The Jewish author vowed that someday Palestine would go liberated and free, adding that Israel was destroying itself by seriously flawed policies.
