Ex Ambassador: Israel seeks excuse for a new war out of alleged satellite images case
Former Iranian ambassador to Syria denounced the new Israeli claims that Hezbollah was deploying military gears in southern Lebanon as a provocation to stir tensions inside the Lebanese community.
Muhammad Sadeq al-Husseini told Qudsna that the Israeli claims which are based on alleged satellite images are aimed at stirring internal differences among religious sects in Lebanon.
In his argument, Al-Husseini invoked Gabi Ashkenazi’s remarks last month that Israel has a low chance of victory in any new war against Hezbollah and it can only boost its wining chances by stirring differences in Lebanon.
The former senior diplomat then turned to the case of the 33-day Israeli war against Lebanon and described it as exceptional in that it helped changed regional equation and bring a ‘balance of horror’ to forces on both sides.
In the 33-day war “in a first, a non-state force could bring to knee a US-backed army and scored a rare victory in the history of partisan warfare through reliance on faith as well as domesticated asymmetrical warfare styles,” he said.
