ME uprisings, sign of consciousness against west
A prominent Australian scholar said the current uprising in Middle East have been rooted in national consciousness against the western exploitation, adding that the western oppression against Muslim nations bred the revolts.
“A healthy dose of national consciousness that ejects western exploitation,” Fredrik Toben wrote in an email interview to Qudsna when asked what could have been the root cause of ME uprisings.
Toben was approved of the suggestion that the Israeli 22-day war against Gaza has helped inspire the regional uprisings, saying “oppression breeds revolt.”
Toben designated the post-revolutionary Iran’s policy towards the US hegemony as a good model for the Arab world and urged the Arab nations to follow Iran’s recommendation “to eliminate the bondage of colonialism and return to Islamic grandeur.”
