(12) Senior MP: Establishment of IRI embassy in Gaza is necessary

A senior Iranian lawmaker urged opening an embassy by Islamic Republic of Iran in Gaza in cooperation with Egypt’s new government.

Member of the parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy, Mohammad Mahdi Shahryari in an interview with Qudsna highlighted the need for establishment of ties and opening of the embassy in Gaza, adding that the approval of establishment of Iranian embassy is subject to expantion of ties between Tehran and Cairo.

The move required an agreement with the Egypt’s new government, the lawmaker said, and added that “First of all Iran must expand its all-out ties with Egypt and then try to establish embassy in Gaza”, he added.

 
He also said that establishment of an Iranian embassy in Gaza would be a positive move and would be a major priority of Iranian foreign policy.
