Fahmi Hoveidi: Palestinian freedom starts with Egyptian freedom

Prominent Egyptian author, Fahmi Hoveidi told a panel discussion on the effect of Arab revolutions on the Palestinian issue Sunday that the only way for the freedom of Palestine was a consolidation of ties between the triangle of power: Iran, Egypt and Turkey.

He said Palestinian freedom would start with Egyptian freedom, adding that a strategic change was in the making in the Middle East which is inspired by the Islamic Revolution of Iran (1979).

He said Israeli authors though in case of a conflict between Iran and Israel, Egypt would act as a boon for the latter however now after the Egyptian revolution they are delaying any discussion of war with Iran.

Hoveidi said the two revolutions resemble one another in many parts, namely the starting point (nation) and the leave of country by the ruling regimes.

He said however that the two differ in that the Iranian revolution has a leader and that when Iran revolution happened, the world has a bipolar system. "Now the world has a unipolar system and the USA is dominant over the region," he said.
