Dean of faculty: IRI's likely opening of embassy in Gaza, lawful
Dean of the Faculty of Law in Tehran University welcomed the idea of Iran’s establishing a diplomatic office in Gaza, saying that it was fully legal for Iran to establish an embassy in Gaza.
Sayyed Fazlallah Mousavi told Qudsna that the sitting Palestinian government in Gaza was fully legal and that Iran was entitled under international conventions to establish ties with the government.
“The government represents a majority of the Palestinian people and its decisions are approved by the people,” he added.
“Under international conventions, if the authorities in charge of a legal government in one country ask another country for diplomatic ties, the relations are fully lawful,” he said.
He noted however that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank were under Israeli siege, making it difficult for Iran to establish a diplomatic office there.
