US mistakes concerning Egyptian developments

The United States has made a number of mistakes in its position toward the revolution of the Egyptian people, al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper wrote on its website.

"One of the mistakes of the US government is that it supposed what happened in Tunisia could not be repeated in the region," Fawwaz Tello wrote in the London-based newspaper.

"The second US mistake is its desperate support for the Egyptian regime until the last moments of the freedom-seeking revolution," he added.

"The third US mistake is its changeable and unstable position toward Egypt on a daily basis; a position that is always late and has lost its meaning for the Egyptian revolutionists," al-Quds al-Arabi wrote.

"The fourth mistake of the US administration is agreeing with Mubarak's stay against the protestors' demand in a bid to prevent in Egypt what has happened for the ousted Tunisian president," Tello continued.

"The fifth mistake of the US administration is its insistence to the last moment to call all Islamists as extremists, whatever their inclinations might be," he said.
