Palestinian journal: Syrian nation to repeat Hezbollah victory
Al-Manar journal based in the occupied al-Quds (‘Jerusalem’):
The Zionist regime coupled with several Persian Gulf littoral states and several regional and international powers are currently fighting a proxy war with the Zionist regime. They are however experiencing a state of fear as their joint campaign has hit a stalemate due to the strength of the Syrian government of President Bashar Assad to fend off the terror plot that has targeted the Syrian nation and government.
Neutral political circles in the region highlight reports and projections carried out by the very regional countries indicating a growing suspicion among the pro-dissident groups about any success in sight in their favor. The projections help falsify previous reports that the Syrian government would fall apart within the first months of conflict. They also prove that none of the goals stated early in the conflict by the dissident front was materialized.
Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey coupled with several Arab states are scared about a likely recurrence in Syria of the stunning victory of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement of Hezbollah in 2006 in repelling an Israeli invasion of the southern Lebanon. In that war, Hezbollah backed by Syria and Iran could defeat Israel in a conflict otherwise expected by the US and several Arab states, including the Saudi Arabia to alter the political equation in Lebanon in favor of the Israeli security. The Hezbollah feat in the war helped etch the name of the resistance movement as a legend in the Arab and Islamic public opinion.
Ata the backdrop of the current political developments in the Arab world, anti-Assad Arab and western governments are making attempts these days to capitalize on sectarian sentiments and religious differences to mar the image of Hezbollah in the Arab public opinion. They have already launched such a project in Syria.
Washington and its non-Arab and Arab allies are scared the Syrian government might end the fateful conflict in Halab (‘Aleppo’) by destroying the last strongholds of terrorist bands in the city.
