Mehdi Shakibayi: The Islamic Republic of Iran these days is hosting a trustable venue for elites and thinkers of the world of Islam for the purpose of formulation of a dynamic Islamic doctrine in the face of the challenges ahead.
 
The shuttle public diplomacy between the Islamic Republic and the nations where people have risen up against dictators has helped turn Tehran into a hub of Islamic Awakening. The IRI has already staged two key conferences of the kind, namely the World Assembly of Ahl ul-Beit (Sept 14) and the 1st International Conference on the Islamic Awakening (Sept 17-18) and will stage another international convention on October 1-2.

The attendance of over 1600 thinkers of different Islamic sects from over 100 countries would stand evidence that he Islamic Revolution of Iran could find a place in the heart of the Muslim nations, without begging support from materialistic schools of politics n the world.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, 33 years after a landmark revolution (1979), has now come to realize a longstanding dream of Imam Khomeini in unifying the Islamic nations. The late founder of the Islamic Republic launched an era of Islamic Awakening which has led to mainstream uprisings in the Muslim nations. Egyptian thinker, Hassanein Heikal, well describes the personality as a silver bullet shot in the seventh century (early Islam) to reach the twentieth century … a personality of the types found early in Islam has miraculously returned to the world after the victory of Bani Umayyad and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein to lead the corpse of Ali (A.S.)”

Imam Khomeini led a revolution which surpassed the boundaries of Iran and reached everywhere in the world of Islam.

Today the current revolutions in the world of Islam are facing the type of threats once the Islamic Republic was facing in the past 33 years. Muslims then need the kind of leadership conducted by Imam Khomeini and his successor Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in order to go through the waves of threats. Ayatollah Khamenei in a keynote speech to the 1st conference on Islamic Awakening alerted the Muslim nations not to trust NATO and the US and keep the field until their genuine aspirations are fulfilled.
