Palestinian Christians united in support of Jerusalem

Leaders of Christian Palestinians condemned the decision of Trump to recognize Quds as the capital of Israel at a meeting held last night, expressing their readiness to defend the Islamic and Christian holy spots in Palestine.
According to al-Jazeera news agency, Palestine’s Christian leaders condemned Trump’s decision on the status of Jerusalem at a meeting held last night in the Church of the Nativity birthplace of Jesus Christ (AS, following to the report the leaders announced their readiness to defend Islamic and Christian holly spots in Palestine.
Palestinian leaders emphasized that East Jerusalem is the capital of the Palestinian state, this status of Jerusalem guarantees peace and stability in Palestine and the region.
During the meeting, Ataullah Hannah, the senior bishop of the Palestinian Orthodox Christians, emphasized: "We, Christians, along with Muslims, have a single position in condemning Jerusalem's proclamation as the capital of the Israeli regime.
He continued: "This is an insult to Palestinians and their rights, and we consider this a violation to the rights of Christians and Muslims, who regard Jerusalem as the cradle of the most important sacred and human, spiritual and national heritage."
He stressed that “Any uprising against Islamic and Christian holy spirits in Quds (Jerusalem) is considered as direct attack on Palestinians, and we will be confront it, just as we have been seriously involved in the defense of the Al-Qaeda Mosque.”
At the meeting, Munib Younan the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and Palestine also emphasized: “We are against any change in the historical status of the Qods, and any change in the status of Qods threatens regional peace and stability.”
He continued: “Those who are trying to change the historical status of Quds are actually sparking a religious war in the region.”
Following up the meeting, Jibrin Al-Bakri, mayor of Bethlehem, stressed: “14 Palestinian churches in a joint statement addressed to Mahmoud Abbas have expressed their stance with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.”
According to Qodsna news agency, US President Donald Trump in a controversial announcement recognized Jerusalem al-Qods as the capital of the Zionist regime on 6th December. Following to the announcement, various capitals in the world, especially the Islamic countries, witnessed massive rallies against the decision. The protests in Gaza, West Bank and Jerusalem, turned violent by Israeli forces and left many casualties.
