Kuwait will remain loyal to Palestinian cause: new Emir

New Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah said that the country will remain loyal to the Palestinian cause.
He made the remarks in a phone conversation with head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, according to Quds Press.
Haniyeh offered condolences over the death of the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, hailing the stances of the late Emir in backing the Palestinian cause.
The Kuwaiti Emir, for his part, stressed on remaining loyal to the legacy of the late Emir regarding Palestine.
A senior delegation from Hamas headed by the former head of Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Mesha’al has visited the Kuwaiti Embassy in Qatar to offer condolences on the death of the late Emir of Kuwait Suhabh al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Hamas official Dr. Musa Abu Marzouq, Ezzat Al-Rishiq, Husam Badran, Sami Khater, Jamal Essa, and Ahmed Mesha’al participated in the visit.
The Kuwaiti envoy to Doha Hafeeth Mohammed Al-Ajami and his deputy Naser al-Ghanem received the delegation in the embassy.
The delegation mentioned the honorable standpoints of the late Emir in support of the Palestinian cause and his important political role in the Gulf and the Arab world.
“Kuwait has given a unique example of its internal and external policies and keenness to serve the Islamic and Arab interests,” Mesha’al said.
The Kuwaiti ambassador has thanked the Hamas delegation for the visit and for offering condolences on the passing away of the Kuwaiti Emir, stressing that Kuwait will keep supporting the Palestinian cause.
Kuwait’s 91-year-old Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah died on Tuesday in a hospital in the United States.
