Iranian political expert told Qodsna:
Palestinian resistance groups have more chance for elections

Speaking with Qods News Agency, an Iranian expert on Palestinian affairs Jafar Razavi talked about the imminent Palestinian election which will be held in the coming months.
Qodsna (Tehran) - Jafar Razavi referred to the recent meeting by Palestinian groups in Cairo and their agreement on potential elections procedures, saying that great decisions have been made during the Cairo meeting.
“Palestinian groups took some decisions about security and health issues in besieged Gaza Strip. It is planned to monitor the election in the Gaza Strip by the European Union, which is significant progress,” he said.
The Iranian political expert also stressed that “Saudi Arabia and the UAE plan to affect the elections process to gaining momentum for their desired faction.”
“Saudis, as well as the US and the Zionist regime, believe that Mohammed Dahlan is the best replacement for Mahmoud Abbas, as he is supported by Saudi and Emeriti rulers,” Razavi added.
He then described the Palestinian election as “a new opportunity for Palestine, the resistance movement,” noting that holding such elections would “bring new life” to the Palestinian political scene.
“I think that the Palestinian nation would support the resistance groups at the current situation, as the Palestinian Authority has experienced several defeats towards the Zionist regime over the past years,” Razavi said.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered general elections to be held on 22 May, a presidential one on 31 July and Palestinian National Council polls on 31 August.
Hamas, the main opposition to Abbas’ Fatah movement currently running a parallel administration in Gaza, welcomed the announcement.
About two million Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and besieged Gaza Strip are eligible to vote.
