Western pro-democracy countries
must support referendum in Palestine

Shahriar Heydari

Qodsna (Tehran) -Shahriar Heydari, deputy head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said that despite all Western media efforts to divert global attentions from the Palestinian issue and Israel’s oppression against Palestinians, Iran won’t stop supporting Palestinian resistance groups.

“Intimidation and terror are the main tools that the Zionist regime uses to advance its maligned agenda. The regime has occupied the sacred land Palestine and increases political and security tensions in the region and other areas,” Heydari said on Thursday in an exclusive interview with Qods News Agency.

The Iranian senior official also dismissed claims that equal supporting the Palestinian nation with support for terrorism, stressing that Iran’s support for Palestinian people will continue, and Western media campaign cannot stop Iran in this way.

“The occupier regime must leave the homeland of Palestinians and return to the land, where they had planned to occupy before Palestine,” Shahriar Heydari added.

Referring to Iran’s proposal for holding a referendum in the occupied territories of Palestine which would determine Palestinians’ future, the Iranian MP noted that “the proposal was codify based on International laws and human rights, and manifests democracy.”

“If Westerners are truly pro-democracy, they should have supported the right to self-determination for Palestinians and their freedom of choice. The Palestinian nation is totally against occupation and the apartheid regime of Israel, and they call on the international community to address this issue,” he added.

“On the other hand, Zionists clearly know that if Iran’s proposal implements in the occupied territories, their existence will be compromised, therefore, they don’t allow this matter to circulate across media or universities,” Shahriar Heydari said.
