Increasing distrust to Egypt among Palestinians

Qodsna correspondent in Gaza reports reasons of change in Egypt’s stance on Gaza after “sword of al-Qods” operation.

Following “sword of al-Qods” operation of Palestinians, Egypt changed approach toward Gaza developments. In the past, Egypt had followed harsh and unfriendly stance against Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza, Elham Shomali, Zionist regime’s affairs’ analyst, told Qodsna.  

“In the last 10 years, Hamas and other Palestinian groups were considered as a threat to Egypt national security by Egyptian high-ranking officials. But after the “sword of al-Qods” operation serious evolution occurred in approach of Egypt stance”, Shomali added.

Ahmad Al-Shaghaghi another Palestinian analyst in an exclusive interview with Qodsna stressed that knowing Hamas owns key to ceasefire and Gaza developments, Egypt bolstered its role as mediator between Zionist occupiers and Palestinian groups.

“But, it is better to always bear in mind that Egypt’s ever-lasting commitments to US, Zionist regime are against Hamas stances”, he added.

Mahmoud Al-Ajrami, Palestinian strategic issues analyst also sees revelation of Hamas power after “sword of al-Qods” operation as the main reason for change in Egypt approach. “sword of al-Qods” operation changed the equations and proved Palestinians’ upper hand in fight against Zionist occupying regime, he elaborated.
