Hamas has no preconditions to attend Algeria summit for Palestinian factions

Head of Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, has said that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's call for a meeting of Palestinian factions reflects his country's "appreciated" interest in the Palestinian cause.

In an interview with Algerian television channel Echourouk, Haniyeh stressed that Hamas is willing to attend the Algeria summit for Palestinian factions without any preconditions.

Haniyeh hoped that the meeting would be held ahead of the Arab summit.

The talks set to be held in Algeria should discuss how to rebuild Palestinian national institutions and agree on a national strategy to confront the Israeli occupation, Haniyeh explained.

Haniyeh continued: "We should agree on organising legislative, presidential, and National Council elections and then agree on a unified national leadership and program."

Through the resistance approach, embraced by the Palestinian factions, above all Hamas, the Gaza Strip was liberated and more than 1,000 Palestinian detainees were released from Israeli occupation prisons, Haniyeh explained.

"I would be honoured to head the Hamas delegation in the Palestinian summit due to be held in Algeria," Haniyeh continued. "Even if it wasn’t held, I'd be honoured to visit Algeria, meet with its president, and all Algerian elites."

Haniyeh expressed his appreciation to Algeria for its support for the Palestinian people, including financial and student grants.

He hailed Algerian football players and fans for their support for Palestine during the FIFA Arab Cup 2021

Haniyeh saluted Algerian coach Majid Bougherra who dedicated his country’s victory to Palestine – and the Gaza Strip, in particular.

Normalisation and Arab summit

As for the Arab summit due to be held in Algeria, Haniyeh said that he is following up on the US attempts to build military and security alliances in the region, led by the Israeli occupation.

The chief of Hamas politburo hoped that the Arab summit would result in a binding decision to stop normalisation with the Israeli occupation and resolutions in support of Jerusalem and against the Israeli siege on Gaza.

Haniyeh praised the Algerian president who refused to normalise ties and recognise the Israeli occupation at the expense of Palestinian rights.

He reiterated his movement's rejection of any agreement with the Israeli occupation, either political or security, as it harms the Palestinian people and entrenches the Israeli occupation's dominance over the Arab region

Hamas open to everyone

Haniyeh pointed out that Hamas adopts a strategy of openness to everyone without conceding any Palestinian constants

Hamas has strong and historical ties with most of the Gulf states, Haniyeh explained

Gaza siege and Palestinian detainees

Haniyeh demonstrated that the Israeli occupation mistakenly thinks that it can "break the will of our Palestinian people and gain political gains through siege and aggression."

The Hamas chief called on all Arab nations to dispatch aid convoys to support the besieged population of Gaza.

He also urged the Palestinian masses, the Arab and free peoples of the world to voice solidarity with Palestinian women detainees in Israeli occupation jails

Hamas is ready to enter into Egyptian-brokered, indirect negotiations to hammer out a new prisoner swap deal, Haniyeh added, noting that the Israeli occupation is dragging its feet and refuses to meet the Palestinian resistance's demands.

Meanwhile, Haniyeh denied the alleged disagreements within Hamas reported by the Times Magazine as "groundless fantasies."
