Hamas welcomes South African constitutional court's decision on anti-Zionism

Member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq welcomed Saturday the historic decision issued by South Africa's Constitutional Court, which confirms that anti-Zionism is not anti- Semitism and that criticism of Zionism is not equivalent to criticism of Jews.
In a press statement, Abu Marzouq pointed out that this move would offer legal and political support for all parties opposing the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
"For decades, the Israeli occupation has practiced cheap blackmail against the countries and parties opposing it to deny the Palestinian people support from the international community in their quest for their historic and legitimate rights," Abu Marzouq continued.
Abu Marzouq stressed that the South African decision would encourage judicial parties around the globe to take similar judicial steps that would undermine the Israeli occupation, which is seeking to deny the Palestinians of their right to self-determination, liberation, and return as per international resolutions and UN reports.
"The Israeli occupation, which has long violated international law and the Geneva and UN Conventions, is using intimidation against the nations opposing its occupation of the Palestinian territories," added Abu Marzouq.
The head of Hamas' International Relations Office explained that this decision would make the Israeli occupation "pay the price" for its violations and crimes.
He concluded: "This is an important occasion for all judicial sides around the world to follow the same lead and work on exposing the Israeli occupation and putting an end to its policy of linking any criticism of it to anti-Semitism."
