Hamas statement on planned Israeli 'flag march' in Al-Quds

The Israeli occupation and its arrogant leadership's insistence to allow Israeli settlers to hold a "flag march" in occupied Al-Quds on 29 May, which is scheduled to pass through the Bab al-Amud area and the Old City's Muslim Quarter, en route to the Buraq Wall, will add fuel to fire.

The Israeli occupation and its radical government shall bear the consequences of this move, Haroun Nasereddin, member of Hamas Political Bureau said in a statement.

Al-Quds, with the Al-Aqsa Mosque at the heart of which, is an exclusive Muslim territory; the Palestinian people will confront the Israeli occupation's schemes to declare its alleged claim to sovereignty over the holy city and any desperate attempts and malicious calls by extremist Israeli settler groups to demolish the Dome of the Rock, the statement reads.

The Palestinian people will stay steadfast in their lands and the Palestinian resistance is on alert to fight such schemes, Nasereddin added.

“We warn the Israeli occupation against committing such foolish acts or exporting its internal crisis to attack the Palestinian people”.

We call on the Palestinian people to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque and intensify their presence at the compound, particularly on the 'flag march' day, to prevent Israeli settlers from desecrating the Muslim sacred site, Hamas official added.

We also urge Arab and Muslim states to assume their responsibility towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque and push for an end to the Israeli occupation aggression and Israeli settlers' provocations, Nasereddin noted.
