Jeddah: Arab foreign ministers slam Israeli violations at Aqsa Mosque
Foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) states, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq issued a statement on Friday night emphasizing the centrality and priority of the Palestinian cause.
Their statement, which was issued following a consultative ministerial meeting in Jeddah, condemned the Israeli violations at the Aqsa Mosque and stressed the need for respecting the status quo at the Islamic holy site.
The statement underlined that the Aqsa Mosque compound is an Islamic place of worship that belongs exclusively to the Muslim nation and that Jordan’s Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration is the only authority that is entitled to run the Mosque’s affairs and regulate entry to it within the framework of the historical Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in AL-Quds.
