IRI Leader attends 3rd night of Muharram mourning ceremonies
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei attended the Tasua eve mourning ceremonies of Muharram 2024.
Tehran, Qodsna - On the occasion of the arrival of mourning days for the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (PBUH), the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei took part in the mourning session held on the eve of Tasua (the ninth day of Muharram and a day before martyrdom of Imam Hussain) at Imam Khomeini Husayniyya - a congregation hall for Twelver Shia Muslim commemoration ceremonies - on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Shia Muslims hold mourning ceremonies during the first 10 days of Muharram to remember Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his 72 companions, who were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, in central Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.
