Yemen’s armed forces launch drone counterattacks on Israeli targets

Yemen’s armed forces said on Wednesday that it had launched fresh drone counterattacks on the Zionist regime’s occupation state, a day after it accepted a ceasefire understanding with the US — a deal Yemen said does not extend to its operations against Israel.

In a televised statement aired on Yemen’s al-Masirah satellite channel, military spokesman Yehya Sariee said the armed forces fired two drones at Ramon airport in southern Israel, and launched another drone towards a “vital target” in Tel Aviv.

No details were provided on the results of the strikes or their exact timing, though the al-Masirah TV reported it was in the past 24 hours.

Also on Wednesday, the Israeli occupation army claimed it had intercepted only one drone coming from the east, likely from Yemen.

Those drone launches came a day after the armed forces in northern Yemen vowed to retaliate against Israel for its deadly airstrikes in the country on Tuesday, which killed seven civilians and injured 97 others, according to the local health authorities.

The Zionist regime’s strikes, which hit the Yemeni capital and nearby Amran province, severely damaged Sana’a International Airport and a cement factory.

On Tuesday, the US and Yemen’s Ansarullah (Houthi) group agreed to an Oman-mediated deal to cease trading attacks after weeks of clashes.

However, the Ansarullah group and its armed forces reiterated their commitment to continuing attacks on Israeli targets, including airports and ships, until the war and blockade on Gaza come to an end.
