On 77th Nakba anniversary: Hamas affirms there will be no new displacement of the Palestinian people

The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, affirmed that “there is no legitimacy or sovereignty for the occupation over any part of our occupied land, and that the Palestinian people will continue to defend their land through comprehensive resistance until all of Palestine is liberated and a fully sovereign Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.”

On the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, Hamas said: “There will be no new Nakba and no new displacement of our people. The unity between our people and the resistance has thwarted all enemy schemes, and it is the path to defeating the occupation, achieving liberation, and ensuring return.”

Hamas pointed out that this painful anniversary comes at a time when “the fascist occupation government is escalating its brutal aggression and genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem. For nearly two years, it has committed the most horrific massacres and crimes of killing and starvation against more than two million people in the Strip.”

The Movement stressed that “all the massacres have failed to break the will of our people and the strength and bravery of our resistance. The legendary steadfastness of our people, their attachment to their land, and their unity with the resistance have thwarted all the enemy’s schemes. This sends a clear message to the occupation and its supporters, and to all those betting on stabilizing the occupiers’ presence on our land and liquidating our just cause.”

Hamas said that rallying around national unity and agreeing on a unified struggle strategy that brings together all Palestinians is a duty of the moment, “given the challenges facing our national cause. It is also an opportunity to capitalize on the popular embrace of the resistance project and the global support for our just cause — support that was clearly manifested during the Al Aqsa Flood operation.”

Hamas noted that the Zionist occupation, which has continued for 77 years, and the aggression and genocide crimes being inflicted on the people in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years, expose the American and Western bias and constitute an indelible disgrace on all those who remain silent or fail to criminalize and stop these crimes.

The Movement added: “Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque are the heart of the conflict with the enemy, and it has no legitimacy or sovereignty over a single inch of either. The Al-Aqsa Mosque was and will remain purely Islamic, and our people will continue to hold on to Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Palestine. They will not allow its landmarks to be erased or the facts of history and reality to be altered.”

Hamas also highlighted that the ongoing suffering of millions of Palestinian refugees in camps both inside Palestine and in the diaspora is the direct responsibility of the Zionist occupation.

The Movement reiterated its firm stance that the refugees’ legitimate right of return to the homes from which they were expelled is non-negotiable and cannot be compromised. It strongly rejected the targeting of

UNRWA and efforts to undermine its role.

In this context, Hamas called on the United Nations and its agencies to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities by supporting refugee rights, providing aid, and ensuring a dignified life for them until they achieve their return.

Hamas also emphasized its unwavering loyalty to the Palestinian prisoners until their freedom is secured, warning Israel against escalating its crimes against them. It held Israel fully responsible for the lives of the prisoners and detainees in its jails since October 7 of last year, and called on the United Nations and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to seriously intervene to criminalize and halt the systematic crimes against them.

In a message to Arab and Islamic countries, Hamas said: “We believe that the unity, security, and stability of our Arab and Islamic nations are the strategic depth of our cause and a vital factor in strengthening solidarity with it.”

It affirmed that the normalization of relations by some states with the Zionist enemy will weaken their strength, compromise their national security, and threaten the interests of their peoples. Hamas urged those countries to reconsider this misguided path and “not allow this terrorist entity to be integrated into the body of our nation.”

The Movement saluted the “honorable participation of all forces in our Ummah in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq in supporting our people and resistance. It appreciated all official and popular positions rejecting the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip and the global movement in solidarity with our people and just cause.”

Hamas called on all world masses, solidarity movements, and supporters of Palestinian rights to continue and intensify their support by all means, in all capitals, cities, and public squares around the world, and “to pressure the governments backing the occupation until the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip is brought to an end.”
