Clinics close in Gaza for fuel shortage

Several medical centers and clinics in the Gaza Strip have closed due to fuel shortage, the Gaza-based Palestinian government (Hamas) said. The shortage has come from Zionists' decision to reduce fuel supplies to the strip.

In a statement made through the media office of Prime Minister council, the government warned that the situation will become fatal as it affects scores of seriously ill people with children being particularly vulnerable.

Hamas government held Zionists' occupiers responsible for the fuel crisis and the resulting civilian hardship. It believed that the balme also lies on the PA-installed government in West Bank for delaying payment to the Dor-Alon Israeli Company which supplies fuel to the Strip.

Hamas government discussed the fuel crisis during its weekly meeting and confirmed that the reduction in supplies is leading to a humanitarian catastrophe.

They indicated that the Strip requires around 350,000 liters of fuel to cover its basic needs during normal conditions. However in emergency conditions and with the electricity cut-off, the amount of fuel required vastly increases.

They also pointed out the effect of the fuel reduction on Palestinian civil and industrial life including the cessation of transport in the area, the closure of industry and the decline in basic medical services.
