10 Palestinian groups in Damascus meeting

Qodsna correspondent in Gaza quoting informed political Syria-based sources reported that 10 Palestinian factions had agreed to attend in a Hamas-sponsored conference in Damascus at the end of January.

Political bureau member of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas Mohammad Naddal told qodsna that 10 Palestinian factions agreed formally to attend in THE conference set to be held from January 23-25 in Damascus.

It seems that Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine would not to attend in the conference, Naddal said.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fattah, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, AND Revolutionary Communism Party announced their readiness to participate in the conference, Naddal affirmed.

According to informed sources, Palestinian presidency Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) has been invited formally as chief of Fattah movement.

Abu Abeer, a leader in the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) said on Monday that he had received a formal invitation to the three-day meeting, which is to begin on January 23rd.

Abu Abeer said: "We will attend the conference for the sake of creating a new era of Palestinian resistance and unity. We accepted that invitation because we have realized that the peaceful compromise (by Israel) is not more than illusions and pledges which will only delay our cause fruitlessly. So, it was a duty to find an alternative approach, resistance, in order to gain our rights by force."

The An-Nasser Brigades, PRC's armed wing, said they will send a delegation of exiled leaders to take part in the conference, which is meant to reaffirm the struggle for inalienable Palestinian rights.

A leader in the Islamic Jihad movement, Kahlid Al-Batsh, told Ma'an that his movement would participate because of its emphasis on Palestinian rights, specifically the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

Palestinian groups including Hamas and other Syria-based Palestinian groups are to hold a conference later this month focused on Palestinian refugees and resistance against Zionist regime, a spokesman said on Sunday.

"The national Palestinian conference will be held from January 23 to 25 in Damascus under the banner of Palestinian rights and unity," conference spokesman Anwar Raja told AFP.
