Imam Khomeini described International Quds Day as the day of revival of Islam and said that the Quds Day is the day of war of the oppressed against the oppressors.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nOn this day, the Muslims of the world take to the streets to condemn Israeli occupation, torture, crimes against humanity by bombardment of civilian targets and systematic killing of the young protesters demanding Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories of the Palestinians.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPalestine is the land of prophets and the first Qibla for the Muslims. For its special standing, it has always been attacked by others. 77 years ago, a regime was formed in the Holy Land by the help of the West, which was named “the cancerous tumor” by Imam Khomeini. Many believe that Imam Khomeini gave new life to the pro-Palestinian movements by establishing International Quds Day.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQods News Agency interviewed with a Canadian writer, senior journalist and political expert Eric Walberg on the occasion of International Quds Day.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe interview comes as follows:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQodsna: What’s your opinion about the effect of International Quds Day on Palestinians.\r\n\r\nWalberg: I'm sure that Palestinians are grateful for Iran's undying support. They know where material support has come from, while Sunni Arab leaders fawn over the Zionist entity. For them, every day is al-Quds day.\r\n\r\nThis has been the case since 1917, when British leaders sent a letter to Lionel Rothschild promising a Jewish state in the new British colony Palestine. Sadly, the Sunni-Shia divide has meant that al-Quds day is not endorsed by most Sunnis, who have done little to support the Palestinian cause, and resent Iran for showing their weakness.\r\n\r\nSo al-Quds day is celebrated outside of the Middle East, where Sunni-Shia tensions are less, in southeast Asia and the 'collective West'. In the 'collective West', Zionists largely control the media and do their best to tarnish or just 'disappear' any Palestinian activism, forcing the cancellation of al-Quds day in some countries. But activists are undaunted and continue to organize in anticipation of the freeing of Palestine from the Zionist yoke.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQodsna: To what extent have Imam Khomeini's ideals been realized?\r\n\r\nWalberg: Sadly, the situation for Palestinians has only gotten worse since 1979. The main supporter of Palestine until then was the Soviet Union. It went into terminal decline in the 1980s and released a million Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel. The new Russian government became a solid supporter of Israel, despite pretenses of sympathy for Palestinians. We are at a critical point now, where Palestine either succumbs to US-Israel plans to complete the genocide, or world protests increase and drown Israel in a flood of sympathy for the victims and a last-ditch attempt to reverse the tracks of the genocidal monster. Trump's bellicose triumphalism and encouragement for Israel and his censoring of all protests at home will be massive suffering in the US too. Israel is a poison that is destroying not just people's minds but threatens the world itself.\r\n\r\n3- In your opinion, what goals did Imam Khomeini have in mind by designating the International Quds Day?\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQodsna: How do you see the impact of Iran’s foreign policy on the Palestinian cause?\r\n\r\nWalberg: Iran is used to slights from its Sunni brothers and their western backers. It is patient and long-suffering. The path to truth is always difficult and takes many years of dedicated struggle. By standing firm in the case of such adversity, Iran presents a noble model to emulate.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQodsna: Israel is on the dangerous path to international isolation due to its war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. What horizon do you foresee in the path of Israel's collapse?\r\n\r\nWalberg: Predicting the future is impossible. Trump's chaotic first month in his second term is a good example of the unpredictability of the times. But I hope that even the 'collective West' leaders can now see the evil they have supported, how Israel is never satisfied, always eager to launch wars, using western arms and financing to perpetrate its slaughter, filling our media and our minds with lies.\r\n\r\nWe can't count on this. Thousands of activists are working now to use all forms of pressure against Israel.\r\n\r\nOne of the best is the Hind Rajab Foundation, named after a five-year-old Palestinian girl murdered by Israeli soldiers, which has launched law suits against Israel soldiers visiting the West, and against Israel officials such as Colonel Moshe Tetro, Israel’s military attaché in Belgium, citing his alleged direct involvement in war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Gaza. The Brussels-based foundation has also filed a detailed complaint with the International Criminal Court, where it has filed thousands of documents showing Israel atrocities. Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are working with western activists to document the ongoing genocide.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWe will never forget this genocide and all people of goodwill will support this fight for the truth.\r\n\r\nMass popular protests and continued struggle everywhere in the world will confront Jewish crimes. It is not only Jews who live everywhere in the diaspora, keeping tabs on critics. We are everywhere -- 99% of the world.
