From grief to resolve:

Hamas leader makes first appearance since Zionist regime’s strikes on Doha

Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas leader, has made his first appearance since the Zionist regime’s targeted killings against the Palestinian resistance movement’s officials in Doha, linking personal losses to nationwide sacrifice.

The resistance official, who leads Hamas’ negotiating team, addressed the Palestinian nation on Saturday, commenting on the assassination spree that claimed the lives of six people, including his son Hammam, his office manager Jihad Labad, and several members of his office, on September 9.

“Today we live in the shadow of pain and in the shadow of pride and dignity,” Hayya stated.

The official expressed sheer grief concerning the losses, but still took pride in the victims’, including his son’s having sacrificed their lives while struggling to realize the Palestinian cause of liberation from United States-backed Israeli occupation and aggression.

He said he could not differentiate between the victims and others from the Gaza Strip, who were perishing each and every day as a result of the regime’s deadly aggression, including its October 2023-present war of genocide on the coastal sliver.

“I do not differentiate between them and any Palestinian child in Gaza killed by the occupation,” the official said, “Because all of them died due to the crime of the occupation.”

Paying tribute to ‘100-plus years of struggle’

Hayya paid tribute to more than a century of Palestinian struggle in the face of the regime and Western schemes aimed at invigorating it towards realizing its deadly expansionist ambitions against the Palestinian nation.

“We belong to this large family, the family of the Palestinian people, especially the people of Gaza, who today represent the nation through their struggle, patience, and sacrifices, sacrifices that are rare throughout history. And in our Palestinian cause, over 100 years.”

The official concluded his remarks by hoping for divine triumph in the face of the atrocities, and “a path to the glory and victory of the nation.”

The attacks took place as Hamas was investing all-out efforts to contribute to negotiations, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, aimed at bringing an end to the genocide that has so far claimed the lives of around 66,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

The course of the negotiations has seen Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu verifiably throw numerous obstacles in the way of fruition of the talks, including by dismissing Hamas’ concessions.

The strikes were denounced worldwide as a symbol of the regime’s resolve to torpedo diplomacy in favor of carrying on with its deadly aggression and ethnic cleansing campaign.
