Lebanon foils Israeli spy cell plotting terrorist attacks

Lebanon’s General Directorate of General Security has successfully dismantled an espionage cell tasked by the Zionist regime to launch terrorist attacks on the country’s soil.

According to an official statement released by the general directorate on Friday, the cell had been engaged in reconnaissance and planning for a series of bombings and assassinations aimed at destabilizing Lebanon’s internal security.

Investigations revealed that the group had been acting under direct Israeli tutelage, with targets including figures from the Islamic Group party and other national entities.

One of the arrested operatives confessed to taking part in earlier assassinations of Islamic Group officials, attacks that had long been suspected of bearing Israeli fingerprints.

Following extensive operational, technical, and intelligence efforts, security units carried out a string of coordinated raids across multiple regions in Lebanon.

Forces from the Lebanese Army and the Intelligence Directorate assisted in the crackdown, leading to the arrest of several members and confiscation of vehicles, communication equipment, and other spying instruments.

Among the detainees were individuals of various backgrounds, including a Lebanese-Brazilian national, identified as “M.S.”

The statement came a day after Lebanon arrested 32 people suspected of spying for the regime, accusing them of providing intelligence that enabled deadly strikes on officials and facilities of the country’s Hezbollah resistance movement.

Commenting on the developments, observers have cited the regime’s persisting efforts at targeting Lebanon’s pro-resistance and resistance officials and undermining their efforts at liberating the country from Tel Aviv’s occupation and aggression.

Most recently, the efforts have seen the regime apply pressure through the United States, its biggest ally, to bring about Hezbollah’s disarmament, a prospect that the movement has promised to resolutely confront.
