Nestlé cuts 16,000 jobs amid anti-Israel boycotts

The Swiss food giant Nestlé, which maintains business ties with the Zionist regime, plans to cut 16,000 jobs globally, as a boycott campaign targeting the regime has expanded following its genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza.

On Thursday, Nestlé, which is famous for its top brands Nescafé and KitKats, said that the job cuts will take place over the next two years.

The company added that it is increasing targeted cost cuts to 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.76 billion) by the end of next year, up from a planned 2.5 billion Swiss francs ($3.13 billion).

“The world is changing, and Nestlé needs to change faster,” CEO Philipp Navratil said in a statement.

Nestlé will eliminate 12,000 white-collar positions in multiple locations, and 4,000 jobs as part of ongoing productivity initiatives in its manufacturing and supply chain.

These job cuts are projected to save Nestlé 1 billion Swiss francs ($1.25 billion) annually by the end of next year.

Last year, Nestle said its sales suffered as it became a major target for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement due to its ownership of Israeli food seller Osem.

The boycott of pro-Israeli brands intensified after October 2023, when the Israeli regime launched its two-year war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip that killed nearly 70,000 people, mostly women and children.

Last month, the American coffee chain Starbucks, another boycotted company, said it would lay off approximately 900 staff and close some 100 cafes across North America.
