310 days of aggression on Tulkarem… Israel continues demolition and bulldozing operations
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their assault on the city of Tulkarem and its two refugee camps for the three hundred and tenth consecutive day, and on the Nur Shams camp for the 310th day.
The operations include ongoing demolition and bulldozing inside both camps, alongside repeated raids, arrests, and escalating settler violence.
Throughout the past month, Tulkarem governorate and its camps witnessed a dangerous escalation by Israeli forces and settler militias, including repeated raids, mass arrests, and widespread damage to Palestinian property.
Over the past month, Israel deployed large military reinforcements and began bulldozing and paving the streets it opened inside the Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps in an attempt to impose a new reality: dissolving the camps by turning them into suburbs of the city and preventing any reconstruction of demolished homes. So far, the military operation has resulted in the destruction of about 1440 homes.
In Nur Shams camp, east of Tulkarem, the assault has continued for the 13th consecutive week. The camp has witnessed explosions and heavy gunfire during yet another raid carried out by Israeli forces accompanied by military bulldozers. Families were forced to evacuate their homes in the Maslakh neighborhood, while displaced children continue expressing longing for their homes and schools, from which they have been deprived for nearly ten months.
Settler attacks have also escalated. Settler militias repeatedly targeted Palestinian property in the towns of Beit Lid and Deir Sharaf east of Tulkarem, setting fire to facilities and trucks belonging to the Janaydi Company. Several vehicles and shops were also damaged in these attacks.
More than 15 settler assaults were documented, with residents managing to repel four of them. Meanwhile, Israeli forces carried out 450 home raids as part of 143 incursions into various areas of the governorate. They also conducted three confiscations of property, destroyed 26 others, suppressed multiple demonstrations, carried out 94 shooting incidents, and imposed 88 restrictions at military checkpoints. The ongoing aggression resulted in the injury of 26 Palestinians and the arrest of 46 others.
This escalation comes amid widespread public anger in Tulkarem and its camps, where daily raids continue, movement restrictions intensify, and entrances to several towns remain closed, all reflecting the occupation’s ongoing policy of collective punishment.
Numerous confrontations took place as residents resisted Israeli forces and settlers, alongside protest marches condemning the expanding assault on the city, its camps, and surrounding towns.
The continued escalation has led to the forced displacement of more than 5,000 families from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, more than 25,000 people. Over 1440 homes have been completely destroyed, and 2573 partially damaged, while the entrances to both camps remain sealed with earth mounds, turning them into areas nearly devoid of civilian life.
So far, the ongoing assault has resulted in the killing of fourteen Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant, in addition to dozens of injuries and arrests, as well as extensive destruction of infrastructure, homes, commercial shops, and vehicles.
