Hamas condemns settler attack on W. Bank mosque as “fascist crime”

The Hamas Movement has denounced Jewish settlers for carrying out an arson attack on the Abu Bakr al‑Siddiq Mosque in the village of Tell, west of Nablus, and for scrawling graffiti on its walls, calling it a “fascist crime.”

In a statement on Monday, Hamas said that the settler attack on the mosque constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, which safeguards religious sites and places of worship

Hamas urged the Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem to take urgent action to protect mosques and holy places from settler attacks.

The Movement called on the UN and international rights groups to deplore the incident and hold Zionist leaders legally accountable for inciting settler attacks against Islamic and Christian holy sites.

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers set fire to a mosque in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, at dawn Monday.

Footage published by Palestinian media shows the charred entrance of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque, and the Hebrew phrases “revenge” and “price tag” spray-painted in black on the outer wall.

According to local sources, the fire was set at the mosque’s entrance area, damaging its gate, windows and exterior before villagers managed to extinguish the flames.
