Khalil Al-Hayya: Ending Israeli aggression, withdrawal from Gaza are our top priorities

Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the Political Bureau of the Hamas Movement, said on Wednesday in his first address since assuming the Movement’s leadership that Hamas’s foremost priority is achieving a comprehensive end to the Zionist regime’s aggression and securing a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

In a televised speech, Al-Hayya called on the countries sponsoring the negotiations to exert genuine pressure on the Israeli government to implement the agreements already reached and move forward with the next phase of the process.

He reaffirmed Hamas’s rejection of any infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people under international law, foremost among them the right to liberation, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Al-Hayya praised the efforts of the mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, saying they have continued working since the beginning of the negotiations and are making every effort to end the war and the genocide against the Palestinian people.

He said Hamas’s second priority is restoring dignified living conditions for the people of Gaza, thwarting plans to displace Palestinians, and accelerating reconstruction efforts as an inherent right of the Palestinian people that is not subject to bargaining or compromise.

Al-Hayya stressed that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian entity, adding that Hamas will continue working on all fronts for Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, while also pursuing efforts to secure the release of Palestinian prisoners and end their suffering.

He said the Movement’s third priority is achieving Palestinian national unity, renewing his call on all Palestinian factions and political forces to unite around a shared national program that reflects the priorities and aspirations of the Palestinian people.

Al-Hayya added that the current stage leaves no room for unilateral decision-making or political exclusion.
