Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman at conference “The Wake-Up Call: From Iran to Palestine,”:
Iran’s Position on Palestine, Humanitarian & Based on Int’l Law
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran’s position on Palestine is rooted in humanitarian principles, international law and the Iranian people’s longstanding commitment to justice and opposition to oppression.
TEHRAN (Qodsna) – Speaking at the national conference “The Wake-Up Call: From Iran to Palestine,” Baghaei stressed that the Palestinian issue is not merely political or ideological, but fundamentally a humanitarian matter.
He said the UN Charter recognizes the right of peoples to self-determination, arguing that the occupation of Palestinian land contradicts this fundamental principle.
Baghaei recalled Iran’s position at the United Nations in 1947, emphasizing that Palestinians must be allowed to determine their own future. He said Iran’s position remains unchanged and includes opposition to genocide and support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
He also stressed that all governments have obligations under international law to uphold the right to self-determination and protect Palestinian rights.
Baghaei criticized the United States and some Western countries for supporting Israel, saying their backing has contributed to shielding Israeli officials from accountability for alleged crimes.
He emphasized that defending human dignity and the fundamental rights of all people, particularly children, adolescents and women, should remain a priority, adding that Iran stands alongside oppressed nations.
