The appointment was formalized in a decree issued by the Leader on Sunday, citing Rezaei’s extensive experience, particularly his role as one of the pioneering military commanders during the eight-year Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) in the 1980s.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n In the decree, the Leader also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr for his “round-the-clock efforts” while serving as his representative to the SNSC.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n Following the Leader's decree, President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Rezaei as the new secretary of the SNSC.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n Mehdi Tabatabaei, a spokesperson for the Iranian President's Office, announced the appointment, saying that Zolqadr had stepped down from the secretary position to assume a new responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n Zolqadr, a veteran military commander, served in the position since March following the assassination of Dr. Ali Larijani in a US-Israeli terrorist attack.
